Certification is a Cornerstone of Better Solar Starts Here

With many different options available in solar mounting solutions, customers may find themselves overwhelmed by which provider to trust with their residential and commercial solar investments. Unirac continues to create enthusiastic customers through providing ease of installation, responsive services, and competitive value based on decades of trusted experience. Since 2011, another major accomplishment that sets Unirac apart from the competition is our commitment to continuous improvement, guided by three ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certifications: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

  • ISO 9001:2015 – In order to be certified to the ISO 9001 standard, Unirac must follow the requirements set forth in the ISO 9001 standard. The standard is used by Unirac to demonstrate our ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements and to demonstrate continuous improvement.
  • ISO 14001:2015 – ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system. It helps Unirac improve their environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.
  • ISO 45001:2018 – Helps Unirac enhance employee safety by reducing workplace risks and creating better, safer working conditions. The standard also addresses numerous other actions for carrying out a dependent OH&S management system, including clear communication, allocating resources, the effectiveness of processes and continual performance evaluation.

ISO (from Greek isos meaning “equal”) is the “International Organization for Standardization,” a non-governmental organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. It is dedicated to developing voluntary standards that ensure product safety and quality while encouraging innovation in a global marketplace.

Global Standardization: Quality Products, Responsible Environmental Policies and Safe Workplaces

ISOs fundamental mission is to provide common specifications, terms, standards, and units of measurement to organizations around the world. The Quality Management System guided by the International Standards Organization provide a consistent backbone for providing services unique to the solar industry. Some key points of Unirac’s QMS and how they impact our customers are listed below:

Some key points of the QMS are listed below:

  • Introduction of new products to continue to provide exciting innovations to the market.
  • Unirac evaluates the use and consumption of raw materials as they relate to environmental impact and the community.
  • Vendors and suppliers are vetted based on an extensive questionnaire and site visits, performance reviews and internal feedback. This ensures our customers receive consistent materials based on the vendors quality program.
  • Unirac inspects all incoming material for quality, damage, quantities and any form/fit requirements. Material nonconformance and corrective actions are documented. This limits downtime in the field and ultimately installation delays.
  • Equipment maintenance and calibration are performed to ensure equipment operates as intended. Consistent material and parts manufactured in tolerance are essential for quality.
  • Health and Safety are promoted with both on-site and external training seminars for OSHA and other regulated regulatory agencies. Safety is #1 at Unirac.
  • Aspects and Impacts are documented and reviewed, ensuring Unirac’s environmental footprint is reduced.
  • Outbound orders are verified with Quality Control inspections performed on every order, on every line.
  • Customer accommodations are addressed daily (often in real-time).
  • Training and competence reviews are scheduled and recorded to ensure our personnel are up to date on current practices. Trained personnel equals standardizing, and consistent materials produced.

Standardizing #BetterSolarStartsHere

Unirac’s commitment to the standards also allows outside organizations to audit Unirac and its processes for compliance on a periodic basis, allowing Unirac the opportunity for continuous improvement. Unirac conducts internal audits and is currently audited annually by an external third-party auditor.

Unirac recently passed our full ISO certification in February, which was completed over the course of nine days. The ISO inspection also verified the implementation of the ISO 45001 Health and Safety standard, which replaced the OSHA’s 18001 standard for safety.

We are wholly committed to continuing to meet and exceed these standards in each and every aspect of the work we do within the solar industry. As with every product and every customer-care interaction, we embody our mission of #BetterSolarStartsHere because these quality and safety standards are the cornerstone of spreading #BetterSolarForAll.

About ISO

ISO dates from 1947, after a meeting at the Institute of Civil Engineers in London at which delegates from 25 countries met to coordinate international standards for industrial manufacturing. ISO consists of 161 standards bodies from around the world, with 776 technical committees and subcommittees. ISO technical committees determine the strategy for creating standards in accordance with the needs of specific markets.
