Purchasing Agent

Duties/Responsibilities

Performs all sourcing activities of direct and indirect materials to ensure business goals for Quality, Cost, and Delivery are met. Establishes relationships, agreements, blanket PO’s, and or contracts with sources with the intent of having a long term partnership relationship. Monitors supplier expectations and reporting for their cost, quality, and on time delivery performance in meeting UniRac’s needs. Maintains collaborative relationships with Order Entry, Product Development, Finance and Applications Engineering in staying abreast of those organizations needs ensuring we have qualified sources of supply and materials to meet those needs. Supports Purchasing Manager in supplier management as needed through implementation of Quarterly Business Reviews, Supplier Scorecards and tracking of supplier performance. Uses UniRac’s ERP system to monitor material demand, assisting in determining EOQ/Kanban/VMI reorder points, and in maintaining overall control of inventory management / stocking levels.

The position requires becoming an expert user of Unirac’s ERP System (Global Shop Solutions; GSS) in understanding all phases of BOM and Router development, RM, WIP and FG relationships, and the physical as well as electronic flow of material movements in GSS. Monitoring material demand, assisting in determining EOQ/Kanban/VMI reorder points, and in maintaining overall control of inventory management/levels will be required.

Skills/Educational Requirements

High School degree and 5 – 10 years purchasing history required. Training in Purchasing Management (i.e. CPM), Inventory Management (CPIM), or Lean disciplines desired. Extensive experience using MS Office Suite including MS Excel, MS WORD, MS Project and Outlook.  Experience implementing the tools and methods of the above disciplines in rapidly growing industry and driving a cultural change around inventory management and purchasing disciplines is desired.  Must be able to prioritize deliverable in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment while communicating effectively with stakeholders.  Ability to interact professionally and communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of Unirac and supplier management.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

This is an office environment position. While frequent interfacing with shop personnel on the shop floor is expected, no physical labor is anticipated in this role.
